Chilling with the H+T's

I'm loving this years Photo5 box by Canon; haven't actually taken one that I will enter yet, (unless nothing else jumps out of the woodwork by Oct' 30th) but I'm having a hell of alot of fun with it, and some pretty funky dreams too. Does that mean I'm obsessed? I'm blaming the pregnancy over my sanity haha. So anyways, heres my fave from tonights efforts with the Hundreds and Thousands again;

Sweet 'n' Sour [A self-portrait]

I decided that as the brief was to get 'close-up' that I wanted to present a commentry of myself from a 'close-up' perspective.

I set about reserching my personality - finding out how others viewed me whilst considering my behaviours, reactions and how I wanted to portray myself in everyday life. After gathering the relevant information I proceeded to prioritise my most prominant features, and what I felt most important to communicate. Everything in the image represents something of myself and I intend to leave the majority of symbolism
to my audience to interpret for themselves. However, the key underlying theme is to use the hundreds and thousands, lemonade and martini glass to represent my sweet, caring, loving side and to contrast it to my sour, catty unforgiving side. I believe that the majority of my personality is made up of sweetness and have reflected
that in the proportion of sweet and sour in my image as well as the lighting contrast from the background.

Throughout this project I have had to overcome various challenges and learn new skills in order to achieve the desired outcome - this is my first attempt at working with off-camera flash and I also have had very little experience working in macro.
